Vegan Apple And Cinnamon Rolls

Sharing a simple and delicious recipe for vegan apple and cinnamon rolls with you today. Because it's that time of the year again!!! These rolls are fluffy, filled with apples and cinnamon and topped with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Such a comforting and delicious treat. 





The Recipe

Vegan apple and cinnamon rolls

Ingredients

1 cup / 250 ml plant-based milk (I used full fat oat milk)

1 teaspoon active-dry yeast

500 g / 4 cups all-purpose flour

3/8 cups / 75 g sugar

dash of salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2.6 ounces / 75 g vegan butter

For the filling:

3.5 ounces / 100 g vegan butter

1/2 cup / 100 g sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

dash of cardamom

dash of ground nutmeg

dash of allspice

1 1/2 medium apples, core removed and chopped

For the cinnamon cream cheese frosting:

180 g / 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar

4 tablespoons soft vegan butter

3.5 ounces / 100 g vegan cream cheese

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon allspice

Instructions

1. In a bowl combine warm oat milk, sugar and yeast. Let sit for a bit. Add flour, salt, cinnamon and soft vegan butter. Knead until smooth. Let rise for about 1.5 hours. Put into fridge for at least one hour or overnight.

2. Preheat oven to 410 °F/ 210 °C.

3. On a lightly floured work surface roll out dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch / 0.6 cm thick. In a bowl mix soft vegan butter, sugar and spices. Use a knife to spread the spiced butter across the dough, then add the apples.

4. Gently roll it up, starting from the long edge closest to you. Slice inthralls, about 1.5-2 inches (4-5 cm) intervals. Place rolls into a round baking pan and let rise for another 30 minutes. 

5. Bake for about 40 minutes, until golden brown.

6. Meanwhile make the cinnamon cream cheese frosting. In a bowl combine vegan cream cheese, butter, spices and powdered sugar. Mix on high speed with a mixer until smooth and fluffy. Allow rolls to cool a little, then top with the frosting. ENJOY!
