Juicy plums, fluffy vegan yeast dough and a light sugar and cinnamon coating. Seriously something I crave every late summer when I see plums at the farmers market. These vegan sweet plum dumplings are definitely a family favorite!
The Recipe
Vegan Sweet Plum Dumplings
IngredientsFor the yeast dough:
4 cups / 500 g all-purpose flour
3.9 ounces / 110 g vegan butter, melted
1 teaspoon active-dry yeast
1 cup / 250 ml warm plant-based milk (I used oat milk)
3 teaspoons sugar
dash of salt
For the filling:
12 ripe plums, pitted
For the coating:
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. In a bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, melted vegan butter, warm milk and yeast. Knead until dough is smooth. Let rise for about 30-40 minutes. Meanwhile prepare a bowl with the sugar and cinnamon mix and set aside for later.
2. On a working surface divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll out each dough flat, place a pitted plum in the center and close the dough and make a ball. Repeat with the remaining dough.
3. In a pot heat vegetable oil until thermometer shows 350 °F / 180 °C. Transfer the doughnuts to the pan and fry them golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
4. Transfer them to a wire rack and allow them to cool down. Dip each dumpling into the sugar and cinnamon mix. Serve immediately and ENJOY!
