Best Fluffy Vegan Challah

Brunching today with the kids and this fluffy VEGAN CHALLAH, some yummy homemade jelly and vegan butter. Because in these days Wednesday mornings feel like Sunday mornings...so why not embrace it and enjoy a relaxed breakfast? Hope you still have some yeast and flour left to bake this delicious challah very soon!








The Recipe

Best fluffy vegan challah

Ingredients

4 cups / 500 g all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons maple syrup (or any other syrup you like)

1 teaspoon active-dry yeast

1 tablespoon soft vegan butter

1 cup / 236 g of warm water (you might need a few tablespoons more)

dash of salt

1 tablespoon melted vegan butter

1 tablespoon plant-based milk

sesame to sprinkle 

Instructions

1. In a large bowl combine flour, salt, syrup, yeast, butter and water. Knead by hand for about 5 to 10 minutes until smooth. Let rise for about 1,5 hours or overnight (that's what I did to get free baked challah in the morning).

2. Preheat oven to 410 °F / 210 °C.

3. Braid or shape the dough as you desire and place on a lightly greased baking tray. 

4. Mix 1 tablespoon of melted butter with 1 tablespoon plant-based milk and brush the dough with it. Sprinkle challah with sesame (optional).

5. Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. ENJOY!
